L-1153 (Beaver Run Chert)
Beaver Run Chert, also known as Beaver Dam or Epler, is a dull, opaque, black to translucent gray chert. When weathered it becomes gray. It may have inclusions of shell fragments - mostly gastropods, sponge spicules, worm burrows, or evaporite casts - and microcrystalline visible in vugs and pockets. It has a smooth to glossy texture. Deposits include large masses, 3-4 feet thick, occasionally appearing as convex upward pods.
