L-295 (Stoney Creek Chert)
Stoney Creek, also known as LaMoine River, is a Gray (N6 to N7) chert with dark brown (10YR6/1) streaks, and a coarse, medium to dull luster, opaque texture. It is deposited as nodules and lenses in tan dolomite bedrock, also as stream cobbles.
Geology remarks: Epoch- Silurian, Series- Upper Silurian, Form- Raisin River.
Location remarks: Stoney Creek, NE1/4 of SW1/4 Sec.9, T68,r9E, Monroe Co., Michigan.
Archaeology remarks: Only locally important in archaeological assemblages.
