L-149 (Moline Chert)
Moline Chert, also known as Spoon, or Rock Island, is a light gray to very dark gray chert. It may have bluish tints, become off-white, become stained orange to red by iron oxides, or have banded blue, gray or white. It has sponge spicules inclusions (the only known fossils to occur in chert). It is glossy to a gradation into siltstone or shale. Deposits include tabular lenses.
