Description:
An inscription on this item reads in part “WATCHMAN / SIGNALING SYSTEM / MASTER” and “ULTRA TEC.” Released in 1983, this signaling device alerted deaf individuals of phone calls, doorbells, or other household sounds. Barbara Liss Chertok, the donor, became deaf at age 21 by Cogan’s Syndrome, and devoted herself to the movement to improve life for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
