Description (Brief):
A set of sixteen incandescent decorative Christmas lamps with cord-set, from about 1921 (in original package). Characteristics: Lamps: Brass, candelabra-screw base with glass insulator. C-6 tungsten filament with crimp connectors, dumet leads. Tipped, G-shape envelopes; colors as follows: 4 clear, 3 blue, 5 red, 2 green, 2 blue-green lamps in the set. The blue-green lamps are coated (including tip), the remaining colored lamps have dyed glass with clear tips. Cord-set: 16 green plastic candelabra-sockets with ceramic insulators, wired in parallel. Jacket is a green woven-fabric. Four leads from sockets end in a 2" x 2" x 1" ceramic block from which two leads emerge. These leads are wired to a two-prong plug with an ivory-colored plastic housing. Manufactured by Owl Flashlight Company, New York. Reference: Electrical Record 30, July 1921, page 19. The Owl company was one of several companies that later formed the National Outfit Manufacturers Association, or NOMA.
