Perforated aluminum elbow splint with paper label that reads “LEVIS’S METALLIC SPLINT / NO. 20 ADULT / POSTERIOR ELBOW / RIGHT ANGLE / J. ELWOOD LEE CO.” Levis’s splints were designed by (or perhaps to the specifications of) Richard Joseph Levis (1827-1890), a graduate of Jefferson Medical College who practiced medicine and surgery in Philadelphia. John Elwood Lee (1860-1914) was a manufacturer in Conshohocken, Pa.
