Description:
The Acousticon SRB is a carbon microphone hearing aid introduced in 1910 by the General Acoustic Company. New, it cost $40.00. This example from 1923 was donated to the Smithsonian in 1939. It has a bone conduction head piece with band attached, and amplifier. The inscriptions read “DICTOGRAPH PRODUCTS CORPORATION / NEW YORK” and “MADE IN U.S.A.” and “TYPE S.R.B.” and “148454” with patent dates of Oct. 26, 1902; Feb. 12, 1907; and Feb. 19, 1907.
