The inscription on the box reads “STEELE’S / BRIDGE / REPAIR / OUTFIT / FOR REPLACING / BROKEN PIN FACING / IN THE MOUTH. / EMPLOYING STEELE’S / INTERCHANGEABLE TOOTH / FOR THE REPAIR.” Thomas Steele (1851-1922) was a machinist and inventor who, in 1904, spearheaded the organization of The Columbus Dental Mfg. Co.
