<p>This recording is from the 1964 Walt Disney Studios musical fantasy film <i>Mary Poppins</i>, directed by Robert Stevenson and starred Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson, and Glynis Johns. The film is based on the book series <i>Mary Poppins</i> by Australian-British writer P. L. Travers. <i>Mary Poppins</i> received thirteen Academy Award nominations of which Oscars were awarded to Julie Andrews for Best Actress, Cotton Warburton for Best Film Editing, Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman for Best Music Score – Substantially Original, Peter Ellenshaw, Eustace Lycett and Hamilton Luske for Best Special Visual Effects, and Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman for Best Song for “Chim-Chim Cher-ee.”</p>
