Description (Brief):
Black leather golf shoes with black laces and soles. There are 12 metal cleats on the bottom of each shoe. These were worn by Ken Venturi during his 1964 win at the US Open Golf Tournament after nearly collapsing in 100 degree heat and humidity of the 36 hole final. He wore these shoes in all of the tournaments he won that year and they have not been worn since. Venturi began his career in 1956 but after suffering injuries in an automobile accident his swing was never the same. In 1964 he staged a comeback and won he US Open along with the Sports Illustrated, Sportsman of the Year that year. Despite a severe stutter early in life, Venturi worked for 35 years working as a color commentator and lead analyst for CBS Sports.
