This pair of castanets were made by an undetermined maker, undetermined provenance, late 18th – early 19th century. They are made of ivory with a green connecting cord. According to the catalog card: “Ivory castanets used by Catalina Julian Myers Mason in Porto Rico when dancing with her brother Alphonso Sidney Mason.”
