Description:
<p>This bassoon was made by William Milhouse in Newark upon Trent, England. around 1763-1770. It is a 4-keyed bassoon, made of stained maple with a brass bocal, ferrules, and keys. Accessioned with wooden case, bassoon tutor fragment, and accessories. The bassoon is stamped:</p>
<p>MILHOUSE<br>NEWARK</p>
<p>An additional section was made for use with the bassoon when played. It is stored with the bassoon but is not part of the original object and is therefore not catalogued. Images 74-10997 and 74-10996 show the bassoon with this replacement part. Image MAH-59591D shows the bassoon with the original brass tipped section.</p>
