Plastic Cup
Description:
James H. Schwartzburg, a businessman in Lawrence, Kansas, established Packer Plastics in 1968. The name came from the Green Bay Packers which had won the Super Bowl in 1967. Being made of high-density injection-molded polyethylene, Packer products were dishwasher safe and reusable, and could carry a text. In 1970, the director of the University of Kansas Student Union ordered 50,000 cups marked “UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS.” This example is of that sort.
Packer Plastics became PackerWare, Inc. in 1995, and was sold to Berry Plastics in 1997.
