Engraving. Designed and engraved by Baron Boucher-Desnoyers after Perino del Vaga (Buonacorsi), pupil of Raphael; from the painting in the Musée Royal, 1829. Printed by Durand & Sauvé, Paris.
Classical scene with figures in a wooded landscape. Nine daughters of King Pierus of Macedonia compete against the Muses in a contest judged by Apollo and Minerva with other gods in attendance. Many musical instruments are pictured.
