Description:
John Switzer Owens (1871-1941) was an Irish physician and environmental engineer who devised several instruments for collecting and measuring air pollution and helped establish the first large-scale pollution monitoring network in the United Kingdom. Inscriptions on this Owens Jet Dust Counter read "OWENS / DUST COUNTER" and "CASELLA / LONDON" and "N.Y. State Dept. of Labor."
