Description:
This type of calorimeter, designed by Antoine Laurent Lavoisier and Pierre Simon Laplace in the late eighteenth century, was used to measure the specific heat of bodies. This example came from the U.S. Military Academy and was probably purchased in Paris, circa 1830.
