In 1931, Moran turned to Broadway, performing in Of Thee is Sing and Let Them Eat Cake. Moran had a brief affair with author F. Scott Fitzgerald, who based the character Rosemary Hoyt on Moran for his 1934 novel Tender is the Night. In 1935, she retired from acting and married Secretary of Commerce Clarence M. Young. Moran eventually moved with her husband to Arizona where she wrote a weekly news column. She died on 13 July 1990 at the age of 81.
