Baird (1823–1887), published in Volume 2, Part 2, of the Report on the United States and Mexican Boundary Survey. The volume was printed in 1859 by Cornelius Wendell of Washington, D.C. The two illustrated birds represent a male and a female "Centurus Flaviventris" (common name Yellow-bellied Woodpecker/Sapsucker).
