Description:
Unmounted silver albumen photograph by Eugène Atget, "Hotel de Montmorency, 5 rue de Montmorency, 1908." Two and a half story building with horse feeding from grain sack in left foreground, head slightly blurred; two-wheel cart with "Bambous" and "5 Rue Montmercy" painted on the side, cobblestone road. Signs for two artist studios: "Ateliers de V. Boivin Orfèvre" and "Charlot Frères: Emailleurs; " several people in upper windows on third and fourth stories. Additional smaller signs reading "H. Gohin, Doreur" and "T. Charvot." Sign at the top right for "Frédèric Péron, Fabricant d'Emporte-Pieces au No. 5." (a die-cutter maker) Hinge-mounted. Recto, "5 Rue Montmorency 1908 - 3/4 - Hotel de Montmorency," 42 is scratched into negative - the 9 may have been cut off.
