“Viva Kennedy” clubs were part of a grassroots movement that connected Latino communities with Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts, the 1960 Democratic candidate for president. Kennedy’s widespread support among Latinos (for example, he received 91% of the Latino vote in Texas) helped propel him to victory over his Republican opponent Vice President Richard Nixon.
