Playing cards have been a staple of campaigns since the late nineteenth century. This deck was sold by Parody Productions during John Kerry’s 2004 campaign as the Democratic nominee for president. (They marketed a similar deck for President George W. Bush, his Republican opponent.) Each card featured an image of a Kerry supporter including former president Bill Clinton, future president Barack Obama (then a candidate for the Senate), governors, members of Congress, union officials, Kerry family members, etc. John Kerry was on the ace of spades and the ace of diamonds. His wife was on the ace of clubs and they appeared together on the ace of hearts. President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney who defeated Kerry were pictured on the joker cards
