Description (Brief):
Black cotton, short sleeve dress with five large black "buttons" along the proper right side. There are clips on the upper right and a zipper at mid left. This dress was worn by Gracie Allen on "Burns and Allen Show" and was always worn with a jacket to cover scarring from a burn on her arm. The dress was made by "Rembrant".
The "Burns and Allen Show", lasting from 1950-1958, featured comedic team Gracie Allen and George Burns. The set of the show was made to look like the real life home of Burns and Allen, and the plots often followed the couple's misadventures, which were oftenparts the doing of Allen who played the role of the zany housewife. The show transitioned successfully to television from its radio beginning as "The Adventures of Gracie" in 1934 and then "The Burns and Allen Show" in 1936. From 1950-53 the show aired on CBS' Thursday night lineup, and then joined "I Love Lucy" on Monday nights. When the show went off air, it became the longest running sitcom in television history.
