Description:
This instrument was used to trace the main section of a semi-rigid housing of an aircraft. It is based on the design of the Italian aeronautical engineer Gaetano Arturo Crocco (1877-1968). A version of the instrument is shown in Crocco’s collected works, and dated around 1912. The illustration there shows a glass lens that does not seem to be in this example.
The object is in a wooden case.
