This document is entitled “Multiple Abilities Battery Manual of Directions.” It was published by the United States Civil Service Commission Bureau of Programs and Standards, in Washington D.C. The document is 65 pages long. The document says it is “intended to be used with Handbook X-109, “Planning in the Examination for Specific Jobs and Identifying Experience and Training Requirements” for applying the basic principles and instructions contained in it to pertinent areas. This Manual is an instrument to be used in carrying out the regulations and instructions contained in the Federal Personnel Manual and other Commission issuances. It does not outline a whole program, but rather implements a part of it.” The document also outlines three other areas where the manual can be used: “competitive recruiting into the civil service,” “recruiting in the absence of eligibles [sic] on appropriate registers,” and “noncompetitive actions.” It is dated both from 1957 and 1955.
