Carved with national symbols and the images of Andrew Jackson, the Marquis de Lafayette and George Washington, this tortoise shell back comb was presented to President Andrew Jackson in 1831. Jackson served two terms as president, having been elected first in 1828 when Jackson, running as a Democrat, faced off against incumbent president John Quincy Adams, who ran as a National Republican.
