<p>Disc Jockey Martin Block of New York radio station WNEW (1130 AM) created a show called <i>Make Believe Ballroom</i> in 1935, which played recordings from popular bands and singers, imagined as a live performance in a fictional ballroom. The program ended its run in 1992.</p>
