Tennis paddle is laminated wood with a metal rim and a plastic and rubber grip. There are holes drilled into the wood in a grid pattern. Paddle tennis is similar to the sport of tennis as it is played on the same size court but the net is lower and the paddles are solid or have holes drilled into them. Paddle tennis originated in 1915 in New York City as a recreational sport for city children and by 1941 it was being played in over 500 American cities.
