This rattle is part of a group of objects that was collected by George and Elsie McKee, Presbyterian missionaries in the Congo between 1911-1941. This was a dramatic time of transition and change for Congolese cultures and arts.
Description:
A rattle with a curved wooden handle attached to a basketry body with a base made of an oval section of gourd.
