Pokot goatskin sandals were made by men but were worn by both men and women. This pair was collected directly from a group of the pastoral Pokot people in 1978, at the Chemolingot Bore Hole, near Marigat in the Baringo District of northwestern Kenya. The occasion was a field expedition under the direction of ethnographer Ms. E. Jean Brown.
