Description:
This is a black and white photograph of Etta Moten Barnett seated, holding a painting of a woman in a headwrap. Wearing a long sleeved white blouse with a brooch at the neckline and a grey straight skirt, she is seated holding the framed painting upright on her lap. The painting shows a woman from the neck up wearing an intricate headwrap and a light-colored round-necked shirt against a plain background. Etta Moten Barnett is also wearing an intricately wound headwrap similar to the one in the painting but with a detailed contracting dark/light pattern. Behind her is a brown chest of drawers and a large map of Africa on the wall. The photographer’s stamp is on the back.
