Description:
A black-and-white photograph of a pennant from the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, by Platon. The pennant is triangular in shape with a solid dark field and white text that reads [MARCH ON WASHINGTON / FOR JOBS AND FREEDOM WED, AUG. 28, 1963 / AND LET THE WORLD KNOW / WE WANT FREEDOM “I WAS THERE”]. The left edge of the pennant is a light tone strip of cloth sewn with light tone thread to the pennant. The pennant appears to be heavily wrinkled. The background of the photograph is solid black. The photograph has a thick white border. The edition number, [5/12], is printed in the bottom left corner. The photographer’s signature and date, [Platon 19], is handwritten in the bottom right corner. Inside the border, at the bottom center, is the photographer’s embossed mark: [PLATON ? / EDITIONED ? / PRINT ?[encircled between two bands of embossed dots]]. The back of the photograph is plain and white.
