Description:
A black-and-white photograph of Bob Moses, Diane Nash, and Reverend James Lawson, by Platon. The three subjects are depicted from the knees up, facing the viewer. The photograph’s perspective is from an angle that looks up at the three from about waist level. Nash stands at the center with Moses and Lawson on either side of her. Her arms are crossed over her waist, and she is holding hands with both men, who have their arms crossed over their chests. Nash’s head is tilted slightly towards her proper right shoulder and she is looking up and to the right with a slight smile on her face. She is wearing a white turtleneck and a black pantsuit. She is also wearing an abstract metal pin on her proper right blazer lapel and a round link, opera length, metal necklace. Moses stands on the far left. His arms are crossed over his chest with his proper right hand holding Nash’s hand and his proper left hand wrapped around his proper right upper arm. He is wearing a dark, corduroy blazer over a black T-shirt and dark slacks. His head is tilted towards his proper left shoulder and he is looking downwards towards the viewer with a serious expression on his face. Lawson stands on the far right. His arms are crossed over his chest with his proper left hand holding Nash’s hand and his proper right hand wrapped around his proper upper left arm. He is wearing a black suit jacket with thin pinstripes, black trousers, a white dress shirt, a floral patterned tie, and wired rimmed glasses. His head is slightly tilted towards his proper right shoulder, and he has a serious expression on his face. The photograph has a thick white border. The edition number, [5/12], is printed in the bottom left corner. The photographer’s signature and date, [Platon 19], is handwritten in the bottom right corner. Inside the border, at the bottom center, is the photographer’s embossed mark: [PLATON ? / EDITIONED ? / PRINT ?[encircled between two bands of embossed dots]]. The back of the photograph is plain and white.
