The Soul Food Cookery cookbook by Inez Y. Kaiser, Revised edition, August 1968. The book is paperback and bound with a white plastic binding comb on the left spine. The front cover is predominantly white, covered with a light blue floral pattern. In the top left corner is a white circle outlined with a light blue band and thin purple band. Inside the circle is the title of the book written in stylized, purple text that reads [SOUL / COOKERY / FOOD]. The word [COOKERY] is written in a smaller font. Purple grapes and leaves frame the encircled book title in the top left quadrant of the cover. The lower half of the front cover is decorated with purple illustrations of a tureen, a corked wine bottle, two covered bowls, and grapes and leaves. In the top right corner is the price of the publication [$3.95], printed in purple ink. The back cover features a black and white photograph of the author and newspaper blurbs in a large, white rectangle framed by the same light blue floral pattern on the front cover. The newspaper blurbs are framed in black rectangles and printed below the photograph at different angles. The interior of the book has white pages with black text, blue tab sheets for each section, and blue illustrations. The book is ninety pages and includes an author biography, recipes, charts, ingredient guides, common causes of failures in baking, baking hints, and substitutions.
