Description:
A copy of The National Freedman: A Monthly Journal of the New York National Freedman's Relief Association, Vol. 1, No. 10. The white, rectangular pamphlet has white pages with black type and is bound with a white cord tied in a bow. The front cover is the first page of the pamphlet. At the top of the front cover is the publication title, centered, with varying fonts and text sizes that reads [THE / National Freedman, / A MONTHLY JOURNAL / OF THE / New York National Freedman's Relief Association.]. Below is the volume information and date, printed between two double lines [Vol. I November 15, 1865 No. 10.]. Below the masthead and dateline is an introductory editorial titled, [THE NATIONAL THANKSGIVING]. The back cover lists the trustees, officers, committee members, and associate members of the New York National Freedman's Relief Association. The interior pages include division reports from Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland, focusing mainly on food, clothing, and education. The pamphlet is thirty-two (32) pages, and is numbered pages 313-344.
