Description:
1950 Ring Magazine Heavyweight Championship Belt awarded to Ezzard Charles. Elasticated belt consisting of bands of red, white and blue fabric over gold backing. Both ends are leather with three straps and three buckles for fastening. Large central brass plate and three smaller plates on either side all depicted with right facing eagles on top. Center plate reads [The RING / MAGAZINE / AWARD / WORLD / HEAVYWEIGHT / CHAMPIONSHIP / WON BY / EZZARD CHARLES]. The three plates to the left read [DEFEATED / JOE WALCOTT / 15 ROUNDS N.B.A. TITLE / JUNE 22, 1949 / IN / CHICAGO], [KNOCKED OUT / GUS LESNEVICH / 7 ROUNDS / AUG. 10, 1949 / IN / NEW YORK], and [DEFEATED / JOE LOUIS / IN / 15 ROUNDS]. The three plates to the right read [AT / YANKEE STADIUM / NEW YORK / SEPT. 27, / 1950] (plate is continuation of plate on other side of center plate), [KNOCKED OUT / PATVALENTINO / 8 ROUND / OCT 14 1949 / IN SAN FRANCISCO], and [KNOCKED OUT / FREDDY BESHORE / 14 ROUNDS / AUG 15, 1950 / IN / BUFFALO].
