Description:
A silver gelatin print depicting a black-and-white image of a two (2) men and a woman participating in the March on Washington, August 28, 1963. One man is depicted in profile on the left side of the image facing the left side of the image. He is wearing a white, button down shirt. Behind him and centrally depicted, is the second man, wearing a white, button down shirt, jacket and tie. He is facing the woman on the right side of the image under a large tree. He is holding a protest sign in his proper right hand that reads [WE / MARCH / FOR / INTEGRATED / SCHOOLS / NOWS!] and a newspaper in his proper left hand. The woman on the right side of the image is wearing a white, short sleeve dress, white sunglasses, and is carrying a white purse over her elbow. She is holding a box in the crook of her proper left arm and holding something out to the man holding the protest sign with her proper right hand. In the background is a large group of participants standing with their backs to the viewer.
On the verso of the image are handwritten inscriptions that provide publication information, image date, event information, location, image number, the name of the printer, and the signature of the donor. There are also three (3) stamp marks in black ink in the bottom right corner of the verso.
