SC – Cooper River. This is the last remaining remnant of a rice field near Snee Farm - Charles Pinkney's plantation. I suspect 1% of the occupants of the new homes have any idea of the importance of this remnant. –Description from photographer, David Soliday.
Description:
A digital aerial photograph depicting remnant rice fields and a housing development in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. In the top left corner of the photograph, parts of Grayson’s Island and Horlbeck Creek are visible. A large grassy stretch of a remnant rice field separates the island from a row of two-story homes in a nearby housing development. Faint diagonal strips of grass can be seen in the remnant field, which appear greenish brown in contrast to the light green manicured lawns of the nearby homes. A small part of a nearby pond/canal is also visible in the bottom right corner of the image.
