Description:
A digital aerial photograph depicting remnant rice fields along the South Edisto River flowing through the Bear Island Wildlife Management Area on Edisto Island, South Carolina. The Edisto can be seen toward the top of the photograph, engaging in a deep meander in the left before continuing southward, past Watts Cut, to the image’s right edge. The image’s foreground consists of various ponds, fields, dikes, trails and vestigial “quarter ditches.” One of the ponds, seen in the top right beside a cluster of trees, is filled with water that appears green.
