A digital aerial photograph of remnant rice fields along a section of the Edisto River, just north of Prospect Hill Island, South Carolina. The river can be seen flowing from the image’s top all the way to the bottom right corner, making a deep meander in the middle of the image. Remnant rice fields with vestigial canals and “quarter ditches” that make intricate geometric shapes in the landscape are visible in the bottom left.
