Description:
A digital aerial photograph of remnant rice fields along a section of Edisto River in Colleton County, South Carolina. The Edisto River can be seen flowing along the lower section of the photograph, while the northern tip of Prospect Hill Island can be seen on the lower left edge. Vestigial canals and “quarter ditches” create intricate geometric shapes in the landscape. The fields in the center of the photograph appear mostly green, however, they appear brown along the remnant canals. The background consists of taller vegetation except in the top right corner, where a clearing with a few buildings can be seen.
