Description:
An oil painting depicting a fishing scene in rural Louisiana. At the top of the painting is a band of blue sky. Below the sky are two horizontal rows of people in boats, fishing. In the top row, there are two trees, two boats, and two more trees. Both boats face to the left. In the boat at the left, the figure in the front of the boat is wearing a white hat and holding a fishing pole, and the person behind is wearing a brown hat and holding an oar. In the boat at the right, the person standing in the front of the boat is wearing a white hat and holding a fishing pole, and the person behind is wearing yellow, holding a yellow parasol in their right hand, and the oar in their left hand. In the bottom row, there is a boat, a tree, another boat, and another tree. Both boats face to the right. In the boat at the left, the figure in the back of the boat is wearing a white hat and holding an oar, and the person in front of the boat is wearing yellow and a brown hat, and is holding a fishing pole with a fish on the line. In the boat at the right, the person in back is wearing blue and a black hat, and the person in front is standing, wearing a yellow shirt, brown trousers and a brown hat, and is holding a fishing pole. The background behind the fishing boats is not painted, showing the surface of the pasteboard. The painting is signed "CH" at the lower right.
