Description:
A large scrapbook compiled by Mary S. Williams, sponsor of the Tulsa Youth Council of the N.A.A.C.P. The cover of the scrapbook has a outdoor fall woodsy scene with [SCRAPBOOK] in red letters at bottom center. The interior pages contains mostly newspaper clippings as well as pamphlets, event programs, conference ephemera, and a copy of the N.A.A.C.P. Youth Herald newsletter. The subjects include membership and leadership changes for the organization, essay contests, a protest of the segregated Youth and Democracy Rally, the 9th Annual Vocational Opportunity Campaign, and cleaning up vacant lots in Greenwood as part of National Negro Health Week. On one page is a group photograph of the [1922 Football Squad of Hampton Institute], which includes W.D. Williams. Towards the back of the scrapbook is a [Certificate of Affiliation] with the "Double V Clubs of America." The first and last few pages have handwritten inscriptions from students addressed to Mrs. W.D. Williams.
