A silver gelatin print depicting a black-and-white image of a woman. The woman is depicted from chest up with her arms crossed and resting on the back of a chair. She is leaning towards the left side of the image. Her torso is facing the viewer but her head is turned and she is looking towards the top right corner of the image. She is wearing a light toned blouse embellished with a circle design made with sequins. There is a white gradient background behind her. There is an inscription in black ink on the bottom left side of the photograph, that reads, [To Lady Laurie - / My Friend [underlined twice] / Sincerely / “Ginger”]. Her hair is styled into a large top bun, decorated with light colored flowers underneath. The photographer's mark, printed in the negative in the bottom right corner reads, [M Smith]. There is also an embossed mark in the bottom right corner that reads, [M. SMITH / N.Y.C]. A partial adhesive label adhered to the bottom center of the photograph reads, [M [---?] SMITH]. There is a stamp in red ink on the back of the photograph that reads, [PHOTO BY M. SMITH / 243-251 W. 125TH STREET / MO. 2-3168 NEW YORK, N.Y. / Credit line must be observed. / Must not be syndicated, loaned or used for / advertising purposes without permission.].
