Description:
A digital image of the cover photograph for John Ehle's book, "The Free Men." On Jan 12, 1964, the Chapel Hill Freedom Committee organized a 13-mile Freedom March from Durham to Chapel Hill. In the image, four men lead a procession of marchers holding a large banner reading [DURHAM TO CHAPEL HILL / WALK FOR FREEDOM]. Many of the marchers hold umbrellas.
