Summary:
This plaque was part of the Pioneer Award given by the Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers to Dr. Charles S. Draper in May 1978. The award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to electronic systems used in aerospace vehicles and equipment. Dr. Draper, founder and director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Instrumentation Laboratory for over 30 years, won the award for his development of inertial guidance systems for aircraft, rockets, missiles, and spacecraft.
