Japanese Army Air Force electrically heated flying suit; brown gabardine one piece coverall; fur lined collar; one upper slash pocket with zipper closure; patch pockets on each thigh; removable belt with metal buckle; two belt loops; zipper at wrists; electric cord extending from the waist area on the back of the suit.
Summary:
This is an example of a Japanese Army Air Force electrically heated flight suit. The suit was first issued in 1937 and used throughout World War II.
This flying suit was obtained for research by the U.S. Army Air Forces Foreign Technology Division (FTD) during World War II. These items were made available for study by commercial firms who could then incorporate any improvements American flight clothing.
