Description:
This striking print shows a performance, possibly of No, which was favored and patronized by warriors. Seated to the left of the flute player is Uesugi Kenshin (1530-78), a famous daimyo during the period of warfare in the late Muromachi period. The performer dances on a stage created by laying boards on the ground. In the background a musician plays a small hand-drum (kotsozumi).
