According to the artist, "On a severe shape made from slightly bluish Kutani clay, I used traditional Kutani enamels for overglaze decoration. Basing the design on enamels colored with copper or cobalt, I chose a wide range of closely related shades of green and blue to paint the small scale, complex pattern. Silver enamel adds contrast to the harmonious, flowing design. I hope that the finished effect suggests the reflection of light on the surface of moving water."
