[1] According to notes from Louise Cort dated June 30, 1994, “These sherds were requested as part of the Smithsonian-Bunkacho collaborative research project on high-temperature green-glazed ceramics in East and Southeast Asia. They were acquired from the Miyoshi Board of Education (the local town directly responsible for the excavation of sites within its boundaries) by Saito Takamasa, a Japanese member of the project who is a specialist in Sanage wares and participated in numerous excavations of Sanage kiln sites.” See Curatorial Remark 3 in the object record.
