Freer Gallery of Art, gift of Charles Lang Freer in 1920 [3]
Notes:
[1] See Original Miscellaneous List, S.I. 37, pg. 28, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives. According to Curatorial Remark 1 in the object record, in January 1980, this rubbing was discovered to be part b of F1907.108ab, a Japanese stone sculpture.
Since there was no relationship between the rubbing and the stone sculpture, the rubbing was assigned F1907.795 and moved to painting storage.
[2] See note 1.
[3] The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
